Catlan Reardon is a postdoctoral scholar at the Development Innovation Lab at the University of Chicago. Her research examines how communities manage violence, climate volatility, and development challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a regional focus on Nigeria. She has conducted field research in Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, India, and Guatemala and has collaborated or consulted on projects for Mercy Corps, USAID, and IFC. Catlan received her PhD in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley in August 2022, and also holds a position as a non-resident affiliate at the Center on the Politics of Development at the University of California, Berkeley. Catlan has a cat, named Ziggy, who she adopted 12 years ago in Masaka, Uganda. Ziggy has traveled with her from Uganda to Nigeria, Connecticut, North Carolina, and California to name a few.
